Weekly Buzz | What Should the Future of Simonds and Overlook Parks Bring?
Tell the Recreation Department at the POSTPONED Tree Lighting
Hello, Burlington!
The Town is in full winter holiday mode—traffic might be awful, but at least we get to enjoy the lights and decorations as we crawl through town. The mall is officially on expanded holiday hours, and candy cane lane and the wish tree are in their full glory.
Expect to see Christmas and Hanukkah activities stuffing the calendar this week and beyond, starting with today’s Santa party at Grandview Farm, sponsored by Kadilak Realty Group, DaMore Law, and Eastern Propane. Come enjoy holiday activities, pictures, with Santa, and refreshments from 10 to 1. Free tickets here, and no worries that it’s a bit last minute.
What Should the Future of Simonds and Overlook Parks Bring?
One event marking the kick off of the festive season in Burlington, however, has been postponed. The annual Tree Lighting on the Common, scheduled for this evening, has been postponed due to inclement weather. The event will now happen at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, December 5. Come out and enjoy live entertainment, refreshments, a visit from Santa, and fireworks!
Representatives from the Burlington recreation department will be at that event gathering information from residents like you. The department is applying for a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant to aid in redeveloping Overlook Park and build a new playground at Simonds Park—and they want your input. Visit their table at the Tree Lighting to share your ideas about the future of these two areas.

Sports and Activities
We’ve got some scrimmages on the sports calendar today, with girls’ basketball hosting Hamilton-Wenham at home at 9:00 AM and boys’ hockey traveling to Framingham for a 2:00 game. The official start to the season is this Thursday, so expect to see lots of matches pop up toward the end of the week, including wrestling on Saturday.
Thanks for being here, neighbor. Have a great Sunday, and maybe I’ll see you out there this week.
