Mixed Track Results Mark Return from Break
The boys' and girls' track teams competed against Wilmington yesterday at the Track at New Balance. Each team put up solid performances, with 11 state qualifying results for the boys and three for the girls. In the end, the boys came out 61-39 over the Wildcats, and the girls fell to Wilmington by the same score.
The wrestling team also suffered a very close 39-42 loss to Wilmington yesterday. Some strong individual performances included pins by six wrestlers and one win by decision. This comes after the Red Devils brought home a 42-32 win against Worcester Tech and losses to Pentucket (31-46) and Saugus-Peabody (33-48) in their quad earlier this week. Freshman Christos Tasiopoulos and Kai Gong both earned pins for their first varsity wins. The team is now 3-8 overall and 0-1 in the Middlesex League.
Today we've got basketball against Melrose and JV boys' hockey at Arlington. For hoops, the JV teams kick it off at 4:00 (boys) and 4:15 (girls), followed by 5:30 boys' and 7:00 girls' varsity games, all at home. The freshman boys play in Melrose today.
This weekend is about hockey and wrestling, as the wrestlers take on Winchester at home at 10:00 and the varsity hockey teams are in Stoneham for 4:00 boys' and 6:00 girls' games on Saturday. The JV boys' hockey team looks to have a doubleheader against Woburn, playing at home at 2:15 on Saturday, and traveling down Winn Street for an away game at 7:50 Sunday evening.
