Burlington Swimmer, Wrestler Put Up Strong State Performances
Swimmer Shay Woodbury and wrestler Maximillian Shvartsman put up strong performances, with more to come this week in hockey and basketball.

Two state tournaments this weekend tested Burlington athletes, and those athletes came through, bringing podium performance and a school record back home.
On Saturday, Shay Woodbury represented Red Devils swimming at the state tournament at Boston University, swimming the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Shay started out his day with the 100 freestyle and set a personal best time of 51.34, coming in 23rd overall. Following that performance, he swam the fastest 100 backstroke in all of the Middlesex League, coming in 9th overall at Division 2 states with a 55.56 and a new BHS record.
Burlington freshman, Maximillian Shvartsman, took to the mat this weekend at the state wrestling championship and came back from an early lost to win his final two matches of the season with one pin and one decision, bringing home a 3rd place finish. Shvartsman's loss was the the #1 seed Alexavier Orellana from Woburn, and he followed it with wins against the Division 2 South Champion, Lawson Giove of Whitman-Hanson, and D2 North Sectionals Finalist, Owen Savage, from Melrose.
The state championships continue this week with hockey and basketball, starting with the preliminary round of girls' basketball tomorrow evening at 6:00 against Lowell.
