Rising tenth graders who are in need of a new high school experience now have an opportunity to join the technical high school that serves Burlington and other surrounding towns.

Shawsheen Valley Technical High School serves the towns of Burlington, Bedford, Billerica, Wilmington, and Tewksbury and provides more than 20 vocational educational programs, as well as summer and after-school programs, athletics, and adult education. And today, Shawsheen Tech has a limited number of openings for students to transfer into this fall's sophomore class.

If your student is interested in one of these eight programs—Advanced Manufacturing, Business Technology and Marketing, Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management, Design & Visual Communications, Drafting, Electronics/Engineering Technology, Graphic Communications, and Information Support Services & Networking/Programming and Web Development—now might be the time for them to get serious about pursuing their interest.

The process for transferring in as a 10th grader is outlined on the Admissions page of the district's website. The admissions criteria include reviewing attendance, academic performance, disciplinary records, personal recommendations, and an interview.

If you've got an 8th grader this year who is interested in pursuing a technical education, applications for the Class of 2029 open on October 1.
