Good Morning, Burlington!

I hope you’re doing well on this washed-out Monday morning. Little known fact: I taught 8th grade science for a year, and a part of our curriculum was weather. I gained a 13-year-old understanding of air masses that year, and I can tell you with 50% confidence that a warm front results from a warm air mass bumping into one that is relatively cooler. That collision creates some turbulent air, which in turn creates storms, and when they’ve passed through, the air temperature is higher. Which explains everything, right? Any more detail you’re going to have to get from a meteorologist. But enjoy your 62-degree December day!

School Building Committee to Vote on Preferred Design

The School Building Committee this evening is expected vote to approve some of the broader features of the new Fox Hill School to be built over the next five years. This comes after a long discussion of whether to combine Fox Hill and Pine Glen (they decided not to), where to place the new school on the property (they chose the northern corner) and whether the building should be two or three stories (they decided the two-story building would be more functional and fit the area better). After the state approves this plan, the design firm will get to work drafting the actual schematic of the building, securing town approval for funding, and finding a contractor to get started on the building process.

Sports and Activities

No athletics on the calendar this rainy Monday, but there is a lot to look forward to starting tomorrow. There is, however, a mini-robot competition at BHS this evening, with the hope of helping the robotics team prepare for build season. I will try to bring you a story about it later this week!
