Daily Buzz | Local Student Receives LGBTQ Leadership Award
And Fox Hill Building Committee meets tonight
Good Morning, Burlington!
As we approach Pride month, I’m excited to share this news out of Shawsheen Tech and the State House.
Eli Ober, a senior at Shawsheen, was one of five students, and the only vocational student, recognized with the Jeff Perrotti LGBTQ Leadership Award this April.
Eli was chosen for this award due to their long history of advocating for positive change on behalf of LGBTQ students at Shawsheen; one meaningful experience was presenting Principal Cook and Superintendent Jackson (retired) with the Progressive Pride Flag last June. “For the first time ever, Shawsheen flew the Pride Flag in front of our school for the whole month. The openness and support they gave was the best feeling ever.”
The award comes with a $1000 cash prize. Read more below.
