And, no school in BPS today
Good Morning, Burlington!
A couple of quick notes to start off our day:
- There is no school in Burlington today. If your kids are looking for something fun to do, send them to Altitude to jump around for an hour and get tired. Just don’t forget to mention the Burlington Community Scholarship Foundation fundraiser when you go. See more info below.
- Today is the last day to submit your completed application for the affordable housing lottery for 119 S. Bedford Street. Best of luck to those who applied.
- Burlington is up against Bedford in the library’s Minute Madness competition this week, and minutes will be tallied after 2:00 this afternoon. So don’t forget to log the minutes you’ve read from a physical or digital book, listened to an audiobook, or read to your kiddos. Don’t forget to have your kids log their minutes, too!
Art Show Tonight, Kudos to Student Artists
Paintings by the late BHS art teacher, Phil Young, will be displayed at an art show this evening at Burlington High School’s Cambridge Street Gallery.
Phil’s career at BHS spanned more than 30 years and encompassed instruction and supervision of students, staff, and student teachers. His wife, Lorraine Sullivan, was also an art teacher at Burlington High, and she will be donating proceeds from the sale of these nine paintings to the BHS Art Department Art Scholarship Fund.
Come see Phil’s paintings in person at tonight’s Open House and Art Exhibition from 5:00-7:00 PM; the price list will be available from Director of Arts Education, George Ratkevich.
The Buzz also wants to congratulate BHS students, Eiko Coram, Dylan Giles Afsa Khalifa, Renee LeComte, and Ashlee MacKinnon, whose work was featured last week at Congressman Seth Moulton’s sixth Congressional High School Art Competition. Take a look at their qualifying entries below.
