Burlington Resident, Pierre Khalil, found himself in a conundrum. With four children, it became clear that a regular SUV was no longer practical for his family—especially when they needed to bring luggage along with them. Anytime the family traveled, everyone else would go in the family car while Pierre traveled in a separate rideshare and met them at the airport. There just wasn’t enough space for all the family members plus everything they needed for an international trip.

Pierre’s solution: Buy a bigger vehicle. But he didn’t spring for a minivan or a third row SUV. Instead, he went straight from big to biggest, purchasing a Mercedes Sprinter van. And he didn’t stop there. He knew his wasn’t the only family with this problem. So, he brought his solution to the masses in the form of Shuttle Up Transportation.

Mr. Khalil obtained his livery license in the spring of 2023 and began offering rides for large families and groups to and from the airport. Soon, though, the business expanded to serve corporate events, concerts, sports events, and much more.

And the ride is much more than a trip from Point A to Point B. Shuttle Up provides water for the ride, while passengers are welcome to bring their own beverages. Riders can also control the music in the vehicle, which is synced to a disco ball hanging from the ceiling—a feature young children find especially entertaining.

Customers find Shuttle Up online, via search and social media. The company also partners with dispatching companies and other livery businesses that can complement their offerings.

Shuttle Up is the only livery company in Burlington offering large groups the transportation they need for travel, leisure, or corporate events. The van can fit 11 passengers comfortably (with luggage!), and the company provides car seats and booster seats for their littlest passengers.

Pierre is an electrical engineer by trade and still works full-time at a life sciences company, but the entrepreneur bug has not left him alone since he opened Shuttle Up in 2023. In September, he started Burlington Landscape, which has already been working on snow removal this winter.
