Weekly Buzz | An Exciting Announcement
And, one more day for tax-free weekend
Hello, Burlington!
I managed to keep up with the Buzz for the first few days of last week, but you probably noticed I tapered off toward the end. That’s a sign of a stellar (if crazy) vacation! I’m back today with the Weekly Buzz for the week of 8/14. Before we start, though, I wanted to share some awesome news.
I’m excited to announce the Buzz has been selected as a finalist for the LION Local Journalism Awards! LION Publishers, or Local Independent Online News Publishers, is an organization that supports independent news organizations like the Buzz in increasing their financial health, operational resilience, and journaistic impact. The Buzz has been an active member since we’ve been operating, and being honored for Community Engagement is a true honor! The final results will be announced in October.
We definitely wouldn’t be here if not for your support. Thank you so, so, so much—whether you just came aboard or you’ve been here since February 20, 2022.
This Week in Burlington
It’s tax-free weekend in Massachusetts right now. There is still a full shopping day to take advantage; see the state Department of Revenue’s website for more information.
Municipal Meetings and Community Events
The Select Board won’t be meeting this week; their next meeting will be on 8/21. Also, mosquito spraying will be occurring in some parts of town; refer to the town website for more information.
