Daily Buzz | One More Precinct 3 Town Meeting Vacancy
Also, don't forget to support the Walk for Hunger
Hello, Burlington!
Take a look at that double rainbow! Looks like all that rain was good for something.
With Town Meeting beginning in just a few days, it’s important that we have a full complement of 18 representatives to ensure each precinct is represented. We have recently been left with one more vacancy in Precinct 3. Due to the proximity to Town Meeting, the seat will be filled just prior to Monday’s meeting, at 6:30 PM at BHS.
To fill a vacancy in Town Meeting, current members of that precinct must bring forward and vote on a candidate. For that reason, if you are interested in becoming a Town Meeting member, your first step is to contact the current representatives of the precinct (a group email usually suffices) to introduce yourself and explain why you would be a good candidate for the job. At the meeting, one of the current members can nominate you and, after all nominations have been cast, current members will vote.
A list of current Town Meeting Members and their contact information can be found here. Not sure what precinct you’re in? Precinct 3 is centered around the high school and Route 3A, bordered on the North by Bedford Street, on the south by I-95, on the east by Winn Street, and on the west by Sandy Brook Ave/Brown Ave/etc. Check your address on the interactive map or the static map. For more information, visit the Town Clerk’s website.
Speaking of Town Meeting, more backup has been sent to TMMs and some articles have been withdrawn. I’ll have a full update for you tomorrow, but you can see what’s been withdrawn here.
In partnership with People Helping People
Did you know that that 1 in 5 households with children across the Commonwealth are facing hunger right now? With so many struggling during this challenging time, no one should worry about where their next meal will come from or if they'll able to feed their children. People Helping People has assembled a team to participate in Project Bread’s annual Walk For Hunger. Sixty percent of funds raised will directly benefit People Helping People, and the other 40% will support Project Bread’s anti-hunger efforts across Massachusetts. Team People Helping People will be walking 3 miles around the Burlington High School Field Track on Sunday, May 7th at 10:00am. Join the team to help raise money or donate to support the Walk!
