Winn View Heights II Back on Select Board Agenda
Also, Recreation Department summer catalog is now live
Good Morning, Burlington!
The Recreation Department’s summer brochure has dropped (Already?! It feels like spring JUST happened!), which means it’s time to start exercising your clicking fingers for registration, which for many of us is the most consequential of the year and will begin at 6:00 PM next Tuesday, April 25. Be sure you have an account, and be ready to go, because the high-demand activities go QUICK!
Also, Winn View Heights II is back on the Select Board agenda, and a public hearing is expected to be opened on Monday, April 24. You might remember that this proposal has come up several times over the last several months. The proposal is for a “friendly 40B housing development in the Winnmere area with access from Mountain Road. The Select Board’s job is to vote on whether or not they’ll send a letter of support to the state about the project; ultimately, the state will consider the letter but might give the developers the go-ahead anyway.
Last time this was opened for public hearing, neighbors came out to express many concerns, as did members of our town Planning Board and Conservation Commission. You can read more about those concerns here. The Board voted 2-1-1 on the matter, meaning the motion failed. However, the proponent is requesting the Select Board consider the proposal again, as one Select Board member was absent at the time of the vote.
In order for this to happen, the Select Board must re-open the public hearing and then take a vote at a later date. If you are interested in speaking at the public hearing, you may join the Select Board meeting at Town Hall (preferred) or Webex on Monday. I’ll provide more information in the Weekly and in Monday’s Daily Buzz.
