Weekly Buzz | Winn View Heights II Vote Monday
Plus, salsa, yoga, and culture
Good Morning, Burlington!
The Select Board is scheduled to vote, at long last and for the second time, on whether or not to provide a letter of support for the proposed Winn View Heights II development at Mountain Road.
Proponents of this project hold that, while the location might not be ideal (the access road will be winding and steep), we have to take advantage of the space we have and these 24 units of senior housing with 6 affordable housing units will begin to make a dent in our need for affordable and senior housing.
Opponents, over 500 of whom have signed a petition for a No vote, claim in part that emergency vehicles will struggle to reach the building, blasting and construction will do harm to the natural environment, and snow removal will be a challenge.
The public hearing on this issue has been closed, so expect a vote at the top of the meeting with little discussion.
Looks like we have more storms and a lot more heat coming our way. Stay cool and dry today and this week, and enjoy some of the upcoming events in Burlington for all ages. As always, items are added to this list as the week goes on, so be sure to check the Daily each day for items that weren’t posted as of Sunday.
Check out the full library calendar for a complete listing of events.
