Winn View Heights II scheduled for a vote amid community pushback

Weekly Buzz | Big Vote Scheduled for Monday

Hello, Burlington!

Celebrate Burlington is coming up on August 5, and applications for tables are open.

The Select Board is scheduled to vote this week on the proposed senior housing development at 35 Mountain Road known as Winn View Heights II. Read the latest on this proposal here. Meanwhile the tally of residents who have signed the petition against the Select Board providing a letter of support for the project has grown to nearly 500, with 159 comments.

Additionally, the School Committee will meet jointly with the Elementary School Building Committee to do a second reading of the Educational Program and Space Summary that has been in development for the last few weeks. Once the School Committee has approved these two components, the Building Committee will review and vote on the Program Design Plan (PDP) as a whole on July 13 and submit it to the state on July 14, thus moving into the next phase of planning.

The Educational Program and Space Summary looks at all eight-plus options required by the state to see what the needs would be for each. After the entire PDP is submitted to the state, the Committee will work to narrow down which option makes the most sense and sign it.

Be on the lookout for the following meetings in the next several weeks:

  • The following meeting of the School Building Committee will be WEDNESDAY, June 28, at 6PM to review cost estimate information.
  • July 11 will be the second (virtual) Community Meeting at 7PM. They’ll go through an update of the concepts, options, criteria, and pricing, which is probably the most anticipated part of this investigative process.
  • July 13 at 6PM the School Building Committee will meet again to approve the submission to the MSBA.
