New Burlington Conservation Administrator Named
Burlington Conservation Administrator, John Keeley, retires at the end of this month, plus more from this week's Select Board meeting
In anticipation of the retirement of long-time Burlington Conservation Administrator John Keeley, the Select Board named his replacement last night. According to Town Administrator, Paul Sagarino, the administration had the opportunity to interview multiple candidates. In the end, they chose Eileen Coleman, to rise up into Keeley's spot. Coleman currently serves as the Assistant Conservation Administrator and will assume the Administrator role in June. Learn more about the Conservation Commission.
Also at the Select Board meeting:
- June was declared as Pride month. Burlington's annual Pride celebration, named Leo's Pride in memory of Pride founder and LGBTQ+ advocate, Leo Abramov, will be held on June 1 from 11:00-2:00 on the Burlington Common. Learn more about the history of Pride in Burlington in this article from 2022.
- There will be a new livery company in town that will do airport transfers and other kinds of paid transportation.
- Wegmans will be hosting beer gardens again this summer and will provide drink tickets for a limited number of single beers as well as 2-oz sample beers.
- The sale of the single family home at 119 S. Bedford Street was authorized. There were around 15 applicants for this affordable housing opportunity.
- Burlington Resident Bob Young, who has been making his rounds to different municipal meetings around town, came to ask about the Select Board's progress on addressing the problem with litter in town. He urged the Board to convey his urgency to the Department of Public Works. This is the third time the unsightly issue has been brought up to the Select Board in recent weeks; expect to hear more about this soon.
The Select Board next meets on June 10.
