Daily Buzz | Town Meeting to Continue for at Least One More Night
All capital budget items and some more financial articles passed
Good day to you!
Another long and productive night at Town Meeting saw much discussion of budgetary items, such as replacement of the music room floor at BHS and score boards at our sports fields. We even had one vote that was so close we needed to do a roll-call vote. In the end, all articles that we discussed (Article 7-14 through Article 15) passed, and while we got through a lot of the Warrant we still have much to discuss next Monday evening. Don’t forget to check out my Warrant Summary to see the status of all the votes.

There are some upcoming dates I want to be sure you’re aware of:
- May 14, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Sculpture Dedication and Ukrainian Cultural celebration at the Sculpture Park
- May 15, 9:30 - 11:30AM - Clean up behind Bed, Bath, and Beyond, sponsored by Keep Burlington Beautiful. Please note, this litter includes glass and other potentially dangerous material. Wear long pants, sneakers, and gloves. Trash bags and latex gloves will be provided.
- May 17, 7:00 PM - Fair Share Amendment Forum - this is an amendment to the state constitution that would increase income taxes on the portion of someone’s income over $1 million per year in Massachusetts. Learn more here and at the forum.

- May 21, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM - Health Fair, sponsored by the Board of Health: There will be 47 (!!!) different vendors set up to showcase different aspects of health and fitness. See more information on the flyer and the vendor map.
- May 28, 9:00 AM - Fundraiser to benefit the family of Billerica mother, Emily Cedrone, who is battling cancer.
Today in Burlington
- 9:00 AM - Housing Authority meets for their regular meeting (the first one, if I’m not mistaken, with newly elected Steve Wasserman on the board), during which they’ll discuss many financial items including voting to approve their budget revision for the fiscal year ending 12/31/2022.
- 7:00 PM - Conservation Commission meets for a number of public hearings for Notices of Intent, and more discussion of the Stormwater Management Bylaw (Reminder, this did not make May Town Meeting, because they’re still hashing out the language. Join via Webex)
- 7:00 PM - Library Trustees meet for their regular meeting, which includes a report from the Library director. It appears the Trustees have not filled the vacancy for their Board; I’ll try to get more information out to you about this seat, as it is essential we have all seats in our local government filled.
That’s it for today. Hope you enjoy some more wonderful weather today!
