Daily Buzz | Town Election Ballot Filling Up
Also, boys win rescheduled gymnastics meet
Good Morning, Burlington!
Nothing much this morning, just a quick update on candidates who have pulled papers for the upcoming election on April 1. Believe it or not, January is coming to a close, and the deadline for pulling nomination papers is approaching.
As it stands, if everyone who has pulled nomination papers returns them, we will have enough candidates to fill all seats AND a contested race for School Committee, Planning Board, and Library Trustees.
BUT. Just because there are candidates for every seat doesn’t mean you should stop thinking about running. Contested races are important to a healthy election. They force the candidates to articulate a platform and philosophy and to take a stand on their vision for the town. So, don’t stop considering your run. Papers need to be obtained by 2/8 and returned by 2/10. I think I’ve said a different date elsewhere, but that was an error and I apologize for that. I have double-checked the Town Clerk’s website and the date for returning completed nomination papers is 2/10.
