Daily Buzz | The Moment We've All Been Waiting For

May Town Meeting kicks off at 7:30 this evening

Daily Buzz | The Moment We've All Been Waiting For

Hi!

I should have done this before, but I have collated all my summaries of Warrant Articles for tonight’s Town meeting in a separate piece here. That way you don’t have to sift through it all to find what you’re looking for. Of course, original documents are here and here.

(You probably already know this, because I forgot to uncheck the box that says “email all the hundreds of people on your list at 9:14PM on a Sunday” before publishing. Sorry ’bout that.     Hope it’s helpful at least!)

I hope you enjoyed your weekend - yesterday shaped up to be even nicer than I expected, and it’s all looking up from here. But it also might be time to start thinking about your outdoor watering plan, because it looks like some quite warm weather is headed our way.

Burlington Today

It’s a busy day in Burlington even outside of Town Meeting. Here’s what to look out for.

  • 8:30 AM - Planning Board meets to continue their discussion of candidates for the open position. (Join via Webex)
  • 4:00 PM - Council on Aging is supposed to meet, but their agenda isn’t posted; since the requirement is to post 48 hours before the meeting, I anticipate this meeting being canceled.
  • 5:45 PM - Select Board has an early start in hopes of finishing before Town Meeting. They’ll be appointing a new DPW Water & Sewer Lead Foreman, receiving some updates, and voting to approve a few things related to Town Meeting, as well as the Fox Hill Feasibility Study. And hopefully it will all be done prior to 7:30! (Join via Webex)
  • 6:30 PM - Recreation Commission meets for their regular meeting, where they’ll be discussing programming, parks, and inviting public participation, as they always do. I know there was a good deal of commentary online a week or two ago, and this would be a wonderful opportunity to provide this input directly to the commission. I want to say I’ll try and make it to represent my fellow residents, but as I’ll be attending Town Meeting for 3+ hours, I can’t guarantee it.
  • 7:30 PM - Town Meeting, night 1/X. Precinct representatives will be discussing and voting on the first of the operational budget and maybe capital articles. The meeting will be in hybrid format, both in person in the High School Auditorium and via Webex for TM Members. They’re also broadcast on BCAT’s Government Coverage page on Facebook for all to see.

I won’t keep you. Have a great day!
