Planning Board Advances Candidate

At Tuesday evening’s meeting of the Planning Board to discuss the candidates for to fill the vacant Planning Board seat until the April election, members chose Jessica Sutherland. Jessica’s candidacy will be discussed at the Select Board meeting next Monday, August 15, and if she is able to secure 6 votes between the 6 Planning Board members and 5 select board members, she’ll be appointed to the Board, to begin that same Thursday, August 18.

People Helping People Open House

Our food pantry opened its doors a few weeks ago, but last night they had a celebration to mark the occasion. There was live music and refreshments, and most (and best) of all, the room was full with the smiles and hearts of volunteers and volunteers-to-be who make a difference in the lives of our community members every single day. It was so great to see and meet so many people who make such a valuable contribution. My oldest agrees and is eagerly awaiting her opportunity to volunteer.

They had a bunch of volunteer opportunities posted, of which I forgot to take a photo, but I’ll ask Julie (the amazing Pantry Manager) for the list and share it when available. Today in Burlington

A little less wild than yesterday, with only two meetings.

• 9:00 AM - Housing Authority meets to talk about a lot of financial stuff, and also votes on raising the smoking fine from $25 to $100.
• 7:00 PM - Conservation Commission has a short meeting during which they’ll discuss some new proposed projects and then continue talking about the proposed demolition and construction of a new dwelling on Cresthaven and the 1 Mall Road project. (Join via webex)
