Daily Buzz | How do you like your storm water?

And with that, we have reached the limit of my James Bond knowledge.

In all seriousness, though, there’s been quite a conversation going on this week around storm water management in Burlington.

First, at Tuesday’s Board of Health meeting, there was a long discussion involving how several properties on Fox Hill Road are taking on water after a lot was developed. My eyes are bleeding from so much reading and writing, so that’s probably a woefully inadequate synopsis, but if you’re looking for further detail you can always see the minutes from their meetings on the website.

[As an aside, in case you missed it in my lengthy (sorry not sorry) profile of the Board of Health, storm water management is a local bylaw that is enforceable by the BOH.]

But also - and this is most relevant today, because the Conservation Commission is meeting tonight at 7 - there has been a bit of a commotion around town about some proposed bylaw changes that would affect, like, a lot of property owners. If you are a homeowner and you ever want to do work on your property that involves disturbing land, or if you’re a homeowner in low-lying land, it would be really, really good for you to be aware of these proposed changes.

I’ve been hearing about this from a lot of different corners, including a direct email from a constituent in my precinct (because I’m a Town Meeting Member) with their stance on the issue.

This item is toward the end of the agenda for the evening (#10), but if you have an interest in this kind of thing I highly recommend you attend and see what the discussion is. Town Meeting doesn’t meet again until May, and I personally don’t know if the hope is to propose these changes for the May meeting, but having citizens involved in the process will bring awareness so we know what we’re talking about (and voting on) before it comes up.

Register to vote. You need to do that by 3/18. The election is 4/9.

If you’re interested in being a vendor at this year’s Health Fair, put on by the Board of Health, fill out an application.

The first “podcast” for paid subscribers dropped yesterday. It was more like a trailer, and a test of what I could accomplish with the tools at my disposal. Which turns out to be enough for now. But podcasts are boring with just one host - it sounds like either reading from a phonebook or proselytizing, neither of which is the vibe I’m going for.
