Unveiling a fresh week in Burlington
Good morning, everyone!
I forgot to mention a couple things yesterday:
(1) Wishful thinking won’t make the upcoming schedule change go away. So don’t forget to set your clocks ahead by an hour before you go to bed Saturday night. (Or, if you’re anything like me, try not to be surprised when you look at your phone on Sunday morning at the hour you lost overnight.)
(2) Burlington Buzz will be on BCAT’s Something to Talk About on Wednesday evening. Super excited about this, so tune in if you can.
(3) Don’t forget to look out for Candidate Profiles for the three School Committee candidates tomorrow morning.
Please see the letter below from Barbara L’Heureux of the Sculpture Park Committee about a fundraiser to support Ukranian artist Nikita Zigura, creator of the Global Warming sculpture. Nikita and his brother were able to flee Ukraine to Poland, but had to leave everything behind. Any support you can give would be much appreciated.
This week starts out with talk of dollar signs, and another kind of sign as well.
- 7:30AM - Ways & Means Subcommittee will review the budgets for the Council on Aging and Local Transportation departments.
- 8:00AM - Another Ways & Means Subcommittee meets to take a look at the proposed budgets for HR, the Select Board & Town Administrator, Accounting, Legal, Other Legislative, and Assessors.
- 9:00AM - Board of Health Subcommittee will be meeting to discuss some requests for special permits. (Join via Webex)
- 5:30PM - Zoning Bylaw Review Sign Subcommittee is meeting about Zoning Bylaw Article XIII, Sections 13.3 and a warrant article for Town Meeting to establish a permanent Design Review Committee. Note that this warrant article is now being proposed for the September Town Meeting, but you can still get involved now, and I am personally going to try to be at this one because I am fascinated to hear the conversation around the Committee’s vision for how business’ signs will look in Burlington in the future. (Join via Zoom)
That’s it for today. As always, I’m here for you. You can comment or reply (or tweet or message) anytime you want.
