Letter to the Editor: Why I Support Burlington Buzz
A letter to the editor explaining the author's reasons for supporting local news via Burlington Buzz

Dear Editor,
Three years ago, a friend mentioned to me that I should sign up to receive this great local news publication via email. It was called Burlington Buzz, and I didn't realize at the time that it was just getting started. I immediately appreciated the value of this publication, and soon after became a paid subscriber.
I've never regretted the small price I pay annually for such a valuable publication. I have so much more insight into our local government and happenings, because Nicci sends it to our inbox every single day, in easy-to-understand, manageable bites. I've voted in all local elections since the Buzz got started, because I now have no excuse not to understand what our local elections mean to the residents of our town.
Nicci is giving us something we didn't have before, and I implore my fellow community members not to take it for granted. Very few of us have time to attend or watch every municipal meeting, be informed of each and every event (small or large) happening in town, and most of us would not have an opportunity to get to know candidates for local boards and committees before voting.
I think that if we all stopped to think about the amount of time and energy it takes for Burlington Buzz to be tended to each and every day, we would understand that Nicci deserves to get paid for what she does. She is bringing an enormous amount of expertise and value to us, and to not get paid enough for such work can't be a sustainable model.
I'm grateful that Nicci has stuck with it for this long, and I hope that our community can appreciate the value of what she does, and act accordingly by making a donation, or even better, becoming a paid subscriber. Burlington wouldn't be the same without Burlington Buzz!
