Daily Buzz | Spring Fling Craft Fair this Sunday

Good morning, Neighbors, and Happy Friday! Is it just me, or did this seem like one long week?

Well, as a balm to soothe our aching muscles (or as a challenge to make them achier, however you prefer it), the Recreation Department has released its Spring Program Catalog. There is something for everyone at any age, area of interest, and fitness level here, so I do hope you’ll take advantage of our award-winning recreation program this spring. Registration for the Spring Session begins next Thursday, March 9, at 6PM.

A couple of upcoming highlights:

This Sunday, March 5, the Spring Fling Craft & Vendor Fair will be held at the high school. Organized by Mill City Events by Tara, the event will feature over 60 vendors along with food, face painting, and raffles. Note the date: The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, but has been moved to Sunday because—*checks weather forecast*—Ah, yes. It’s supposed to snow again.

Also, there are two professional development days in March—3/9 and 3/30—during which BPS students in grades preK-12 will not have school. During the March 9 PD day, teachers at MSMS and BHS will have follow-up training on restorative justice. As reported by BCAT and discussed at the February 28 and prior School Committee meetings, the district has been working with the Highlander Institute to ensure teachers are trained in culturally responsive methods that include and value all students. This next step is intended to further educators’ training in using restorative justice principles to address conflict.

Finally, spaces are still available for the free citizenship preparation course being offered by Woburn Public Library in conjunction with Burlington Public Library. Register and learn more.
