What to Do this Summer in Burlington: 5 Buzz Picks

There's something about summer that makes us want to get out and do something. Warming weather, nicer days, and the fact that the kids are out from school all contribute to the feeling of urgency to move our bodies, exercise our minds, or just do something fun. The Buzz Guide to Spring and Summer in Burlington is full of ideas for things to do this summer in Burlington and nearby. Here are some of our favorites:

• Take a day trip to Castle Island. Buzz reader Judi went with her family, and they had a fantastic time! Tour the fort, bring a blanket and a picnic basket and even a kite, and have a lovely time whether you're alone or with the fam.
• Walk one of the many trails at Mary Cummings Park. This 216-acre property with multiple trails, including some wheelchair accessible ones, is a great place to find some peace and reflect.
• Spend the day at Walden Pond. Start out with a hike around the state reservation and see the location of the cabin where author Henry Thoreau lived for two years, two months, and two days, and then hang in the warm, shallow water or on the beach. You might even catch the ice cream truck.
• Hang at the Sculpture Park to watch as the 2022 installation departs and the 2024 installation is placed, or check out the Pigs on Parade, which will be unveiled on June 22 at the Big Pig Party and displayed on the Town Common until the end of August.
• Hang out at the Discovery Museum in Acton* with the young ones in your life as they check out indoor and outdoor exhibits that deal with water, magnetism, animal habitats, art, air, and more.
