Good Morning, Burlington!

We hope you enjoyed your Saturday and had a chance to digest the firehose of information we sent yesterday.

The new website we’ve been talking about for so long will be launching this month (yay!), and as a part of that transition, the event links in the daily schedule will look a little different. Many of them will take you to our (still a work in progress) event calendar, which will have most of the information you need to learn about the event. If you need to visit the source calendar for the event, there will be a link to visit the event’s website or learn more. Thanks for your patience as we get the wrinkles ironed out.

If you have an event you’d like the Buzz to know about, you can add it to the calendar. You’ll need to create an account, but once you have one you can add as many events as you’d like for free—and you or your business can pay to promote events if you want, too!

Local High School Student Designs Logo for Art Installation

The plans for the Pigs on Parade art installation, which will be featured on the Town Common this summer, are firmly underway, and as a part of that process, a call was put out to artists at our high school to create a logo for the display. The Sculpture Park announced this week that the winner of the logo contest is the logo below, designed by BHS Junior, Dove Jimenez.

According to the Sculpture Park Committee’s press release, Dove enjoys participating in the BHS Marching Band’s Color Guard Team and playing Dungeons and Dragons, and they also hope to pursue art in college and professionally. One of the favorite features of the design was the incorporation of the Sculpture Park’s logo.

Pigs On Parade seeks to celebrate Burlington’s rich agricultural history (with an emphasis on pig farming) alongside celebration of some of the businesses and industries that keep Burlington running today. Learn more about the installation and how your business can sponsor a pig at the story below.
