Weekly Buzz | Garden Club to Present Perennials, the Workhorses of the Garden
And get your tickets in for the Friends of the Library raffle
Hello, Burlington!
Welcome to our new Town Meeting Member, Jeremy Harrington, from Precinct 2. Two vacancies still remain in Precinct 7, and they need to be filled in order for that precinct to have full representation at this Wednesday’s Town meeting. If you live in Precinct 7 and are interested in an entrée into town government, or know someone who would be, please reach out to your precinct’s Town Meeting Members and Town Clerk Amy Warfield to express your interest, then show up to Town meeting at 6:30 on Wednesday (at the BHS auditorium) for the appointment vote and stick around for the main event.
Also, the Diwali celebration on the Common was postponed to this Sunday, October 1. (*gulp* Yes, it’s October already.)
Garden Club to Present Perennials, the Workhorses of the Garden
Perennials are some of the most recognizable plants in landscaping, reappearing and growing larger year after year. Many gardens include perennials that bloom at different points in the year, keeping the beauty fresh for the spring, summer, and autumn seasons.
Fall is one of the best times to add perennials to your yard. With a little know-how you can keep your garden in bloom for most of the season and coming back year after year. Join the Burlington Garden Club to explore which perennials will work best in your gardens and discuss how to keep them in good form. Bring your questions! Plants from members' gardens will be for sale and you can take a chance on winning a fabulous raffle basket, scratch tickets, or a premium restaurant gift card.
Speaking of gift cards, the Burlington Garden Club would like to thank the very generous businesses who donated gift cards for our raffle to help raise money for our annual scholarship: Eddy V's Prime Seafood, The Bancroft, Smith & Wollensky, Tavern in the Square, Redstone American Grill, Black & Blue Steak and Crab, Burtons Grill & Bar, Not Your Average Joe's, The Cheesecake Factory, King's Bowling, Green Tangerine Spa & Salon, and Elizabeth Grady Companies. Your contributions are very much appreciated!
This event will be held in the Murray-Kelly room at 61 Center Street at 6:30 on Wednesday evening, September 27.

Volleyball teams didn’t fare so well against Wayland, with JV and freshmen both losing 0-2 and varsity losing their first match this year 1-3.
Stay tuned this week for meetups in soccer, volleyball, cross country, field hockey, football, and golf.
