Weekly Buzz | English Classes to Be Held in the New Year

Hello, Burlington, and Happy New Year!

This Tuesday will be one of several staff development days for Burlington Public Schools staff, so if you’re wondering why traffic isn’t as insane tomorrow morning as it usually is, that’s because Burlington students have another day off of school. They’ll be back in full force for a shortened week on Wednesday.

English Classes to Be Held in the New Year

Speaking of BPS students, their parents and caregivers are eligible to take English classes through the district’s English Learner department beginning in the new year. Classes will be available for all levels from beginner to advanced; this placement test will help new students decide which class is best for you. To enroll, fill in this form by Friday, January 5, at noon.

Classes will run from January 8-March 11:

  • Advanced Classes: Mondays and Thursdays 5:00-6:30 PM - BHS Upper Library
  • Intermediate Classes: Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00-7:30 PM - Online
  • Beginner Classes: Mondays and Thursdays 4:00-5:00 PM - BHS Upper Library

Please reach out to the district office if you need more information; their phone number is 781-270-1800.

Sports and Activities

Nothing on New Years Day, but hold on to your hats, because there are plenty of sports to keep fans and athletes occupied this week: basketball, hockey, wrestling, swimming, and gymnastics are all coming our way. In addition, busy practice seasons are coming up for other BHS extracurriculars like robotics, mock trial, and more!

I hope you have a great New Year’s week and not too much trouble getting back into the swing of things.

See you soon, Burlington!
