Weekend Buzz | Introducing Burlington Perspectives Podcast

Good morning, friends!

In case you didn’t know ( ), I’ve been working on some new podcasts in the last couple weeks. And thanks to Facebook, I’ve got a long list of potential guests to line up and get into the studio.

Along with interviewing candidates for offices that represent Burlington at the state and local level, I also am looking to get a monthly podcast off the ground called Burlington Perspectives. The idea of BP is to share stories from residents of all different backgrounds - folks with a unique perspective and those who are doing great things in our community.

Today, I bring to you Wayne Higden. Wayne has lived here all his conscious life, since he was 18 months old in 1949. (I think he accidentally said ’39 in the interview, but it was ’49.) We had a long and enjoyable conversation that went all over the place:

  • How Burlington went from being a small farming community to a hub of technology and biotech
  • The evolution of the town’s school system
  • Old landmarks in town and how they’ve evolved over time
  • Why he came back to Burlington instead of settling in one of our neighboring towns
  • Why we participate in social media conversations
  • The importance of knowing your history, doing your homework, and coming to problems with a solution-oriented mindset

All the podcasts are recorded at BCAT studio (Thank you!), and paid subscribers can get a sneak peek one week before the episode is released to the general public.

Future installments will feature our candidates for Governor’s Council and State Representative, as well as local business owners, nonprofit leaders, and residents who make our town just a little bit better each day. If you have something to say, or if you know someone who does, please reach out!

Thanks for all your support, and I’m excited to be taking this next step with you!

Have an amazing holiday weekend. See you soon with the Weekly!
