Weekend Buzz | Check Out This Opportunity to Serve Our Community
Also, Library Book Donation Day is tomorrow!
Good Morning!
Before I get down to business, I wanted to remind you that my interview with John Sanchez of the Department of Public Works is live today! Check it out and be sure to comment on the post if you have any questions or thoughts!
I’m getting a late start today, but I didn’t want to miss the chance to let you know about an opportunity to become involved in our town.
The Library Board of Trustees is seeking a new member following the resignation of Adam Woodbury for personal reasons. This group is the liaison between the library and the public, advocating for the library with both the town government and the public.
As Library Director Michael Wick explains, “The Trustees are an elected board that oversees the hiring (and firing) of the Library Director; sets policy for the library; and oversees the budget.”
Trustees meet on the Second Thursday of each month at 7PM and talk about existing and new initiatives, as well as maintenance, facilities, personnel, budget, and patron concerns. The Trustees see the long-term bird’s-eye view, while the Library Director takes care of more of the day-to-day tasks.
If you’re interested in this opportunity, you can contact Michael Wick at the library (781-505-4990 or mwick@burlington.org) or attend the next meeting on Thursday, October 13th. You can see the Library’s announcement here.
I’ll be back tomorrow or Monday with the Weekly, along with sports scores. Sorry for the delay - I didn’t expect the Ozarks to be quite so busy!
See you soon!
