Weekend Buzz | Burlington POWIR to Hold End-of-Year Meeting
And, Red Devils eSports team plays at Rocket League state championships today
Hello, Burlington!
First off, join the Buzz in sending our support to our Red Devils eSports team, who are playing at HELIX Arena at Patriot Place today in the Massachusetts Rocket League State championship. The tournament is underway now!
Also, I wanted to highlight an event that will be happening tomorrow, and the lovely organization that is hosting it.
Burlington POWIR (Partners Organized to Welcome Immigrants and Refugees) will be holding an end-of-year coffee and donut gathering tomorrow at 11:30 AM in the basement of St. Malachy’s. According to Brian Fischenich, “The group was started over a year ago to assist Afghan refugees. It began as an interfaith group with members from different faith-based organizations in Burlington.”
POWIR aids refugees in the area, helping refugees and immigrants to get settled and provides services such as rides to and from work. The group is seeking volunteers to support their work, and invites anyone interested in volunteering to attend the meeting, enjoy some coffee and donuts, and learn more.
For more information you can email the group. Hope you can make it!
