A new restaurant is bringing some big flavors to our small town. Got a craving for Indian street food? You can now satisfy it right here at home.

Started in 2018 in Schaumburg, Illinois, and expanding quickly into Chicago and across the United States and Canada, Eggholic brings craveable eats from South Asia to American audiences.

Founders Bhagyesh Patel and Lay Patel grew up in India and found themselves missing Indian Street food when they moved to the U.S.—especially Egg Night, which featured different preparations of eggs alongside Indian spices. They decided to bring their favorite Gujarati dishes to their new home, and Eggholic was born.

The restaurant features more than 40 dishes, both with and without eggs; there are both vegetarian and halal meat options. But, most importantly, according to Marketing Director Bhavana Singh, each dish tastes like one you’d find at a street cart in India, complete with flavorful rice and a proprietary blend of spices.

In case you’ve never eaten at Eggholic before, Bhavana has a few recommendations for you. “Everybody loves our sandwich,” she says, but she also recommends trying the Surti Gotalo, which is “shredded hard-boiled eggs mixed with sunny-side-up eggs in our special house spices,” and the Pani-Puri, which are “puffed wafers stuffed with chickpeas and potato and served with flavored water.”

Eggholic’s Shrewsbury location is now open, and already diners seem to love it: They’ve got 272 Google reviews and a 4.7 star rating.

The Burlington location, at 10 Wall Street, opened a few weeks ago, and we're excited to enjoy this amazing-looking food!
