Need a Christmas Tree in Burlington? Look no Further.
There will be a Christmas tree lot in Burlington this year to benefit the food pantry. Get your tree and help your community!
Burlington residents who celebrate Christmas are in for a treat this year. Starting on Black Friday, there will be a place to get your Christmas tree right here in Burlington—and, even better, you'll be supporting neighbors who need a little extra help this holiday season and beyond.
The United Church of Christ, Congregational, will be holding a Christmas tree lot beginning on Friday, November 29, and continuing weekends until the trees run out. The beautiful balsam fir trees are already unloaded and waiting to find their forever home. Choose the perfect size for your space, and enjoy some free hot cocoa and handmade crafts as you shop.
The Select Board discussed the Christmas tree lot at their November 18 meeting, as the church requested permission to post a sign on the Town Common advertising the event. Initially the town declined to allow the advertisement, citing a policy that only town events and those who already had precedent for placing a sign on the Common were allowed to use the space. However, after an appeal from Pastor Andrew Harris and parishioner (and Pantry Director at People Helping People), Julie Lewis, the Select Board voted 3-2 to allow the sign for this year.
As a part of his request, Harris reminded the community that the UCC Congregational was formed as Woburn's second parish back in 1730 when Burlington was still a ward of Woburn and there's no more legacy organization that that. The argument proved compelling, as you'll likely be seeing the notice on the Town Common in the coming days.
Be sure to come early, because supplies are limited. The lot will be open Fridays from 3:00-7:00, Saturdays from 10:00-7:00, and Sundays from 12:00-6:00 while supplies last. They'll also be open on Tuesday, December 3, during the town's annual Tree Lighting celebration.
A portion of proceeds from this sale will go to support People Helping People. UCC Congregational is located at 6 Lexington Street, Burlington, MA.
