Karma Asian Fusion opened in the Burlington Mall in 2021. It was the fourth of what are now five locations in the Metro West area, and has been a unique–and tasty!–addition to Burlington’s restaurant scene, said General Manager Jimmy Pratt when he sat down with the Buzz.

What sets Karma apart? Well, the sushi, for starters, said Pratt. “[It’s] amazing,” he said. “No sushi around can compete.” That, in part, is because founder and owner, Iverson Guo, is a master sushi chef. He spent time in Japan learning proper preparation techniques and continues his education, including spending some time this past summer with Netflix-famous sushi chef, Jiro Ono. Iverson’s depth of knowledge allows him to create innovative recipes, like the Karma Three Layer, that you won’t find anywhere else.

Adventurous diners can try the 15-course Omakase, which is a chef’s choice experience of thoughtfully curated courses that will guide you through a journey through the senses. You’ll have to book this one a couple of days ahead of time, to give the chef time to prepare.

Karma’s Burlington location also features authentic Cantonese dishes and an extensive and varied drink menu, with delicious seasonal cocktail offerings as well as standards. “I’d put our mai tai up against any mai tai,” said Pratt. Guests in parties of 4 or more looking to celebrate a special occasion can enjoy a party drink served in an impressive vessel such as the Chinese New Year or the Red Envelope, which take inspiration from lunar new year, an important East Asian cultural event.

The atmosphere in the restaurant, said Pratt, only enhances the dining experience. The restaurant’s décor blends Chinese and American culture together, and each restaurant features an original piece of art created by Iverson’s father, who was a professional artist. These special touches, in addition to the family feel among staff and the loyal crowd of guests who come to dine at Karma, make the restaurant truly special.
