Daily Buzz | The Deal with DEI, Burlington's Birthday Celebration, Roger's Piano, and more
Time for cake!
Good Morning, Burlington!
There’s been quite a buzz (get it? ) about the Select Board meeting from Monday night, particularly the Board’s response to Dr. BJ Addison Reid, who presented on behalf of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Subcommittee. I promised I’d write something about DEI in Burlington, so I’ve done that and you can find it here.
At its heart, DEI is the idea that everyone should feel like they belong and are valued, regardless of their race, ethnicity, cultural heritage, skin color, LGBTQ+ identification, gender, religion, age, etc. Organizations like Burlington Against Racism and the Burlington Equity Coalition also have resources to answer questions you might have about DEI, why it is important, and how we can better implement these practices in our town.
On to today’s events.
- Today, not yesterday, at 6pm, is Rec Department signup. Get your clicking fingers ready!
- Conservation Commission subcommittee meets today regarding the proposed amendments to the stormwater management bylaw.
