Section of Cambridge Street to Close Overnight
This evening, beginning at 6:00 PM (apologies for the typo in an earlier Buzz, and thanks to you astute readers for correcting it!), the DPW will begin preparing to install liners in the sewer along Cambridge Street from one end of Chestnut Ave. to the other. Chestnut Ave. is the bypass that begins at the car wash and ends after the LaCascia’s parking lot; there will be a detour there as well as at Francis Wyman Road.
This work has been attempted three times during daytime hours, and has failed because the bypass is too large to not run across the street. The liners, which must be ordered in advance, are set to expire in just a few days, and the sewer line is in “very very critical condition,” according to Assistant Town Engineer, Meghan Cavalier, who spoke at Select Board on Monday.
The hope is to complete this work before the morning rush hour begins on Friday; there is a plan for ambulances to get through if necessary.
