Good Morning, Burlington!

Yesterday evening, I had the honor of being a guest on Linda McNamee’s live show, Something to Talk About, on BCAT. I joined Town Clerk, Amy Warfield, to chat with Linda about how the Civic Expo came to be, how it went, and what we hope to see in future Civic Expos. Among some of the topics of conversation:

  • How did we choose the date and time?
  • What were our hopes and expectations ahead of the event?
  • How can we use what we learned from the inaugural event to make future ones even better?
  • Will this become an annual event?

Watch next week to find out the answers to these questions and more! At the end, we drew winners for the door prizes. Did you win one? You’ll have to watch and see! We’ll be sure to share the video when it’s available.

Parent Asks Recreation: Please, Can We Get Camp Information Earlier?

At Monday night’s Recreation Commission meeting, community member, parent, and School Committee Member, Melissa Massardo, spoke for many Burlington parents when she requested availability of summer camp details well before the current April timeline. Planning for summer camps starts in January, she said, and parents need information regarding pricing and offerings during that time so they can balance their families’ needs and desires with their budgets.

The Commission explained that hiring is a major factor in their ability to publish information on camps, but they were willing to look more into what they could do to support Massardo’s request.
