Daily Buzz | New Family-Friendly Athletic Facility Opening in Burlington

Good Morning, Neighbors!

I wanted to take a moment and remind you about the Open House at Shawsheen Tech this Sunday from 2-4. This is a great way to get to know about the opportunities available to our rising high schoolers and see what services the school provides as well. I left it off the weekly, and so I wanted to highlight it here one more time.

Something else cool that’s coming up is next week’s grand opening of D1 Training at 60 South Avenue, over by Long’s off Middlesex Turnpike. Owner Vic Viktorov’s story is a stunning example of recovery, and he is excited to share his family friendly athletic training facility with Burlington. They have training programs for all ages, starting at age 7! Read more below.

Today in Burlington

Meetings and Events

The Sculpture Park Committee today will discuss the construction project that was approved by Town Meeting in May, which allotted $20,000 to improvements and accessibility enhancements to the entrance of the park. The location where the Sculpture Park currently sits is adjacent to the police station and is one potential location that has been discussed at length for a new police station. I’m interested to see where they’ve landed on making these improvements, as they’ve expressed being hesitant to do this work if this won’t be the permanent location for the Sculpture Park.

Sports and Activities

This section is going to be pretty sparse until Basketball season starts next month. There’s nothing going on today, that I know of, but be on the lookout for Volleyball championship information as our girls will play their first game tomorrow.

Don’t forget, if you know of any activities going on at the high school or elsewhere in the community that I can cover (drama, band, chorus, robotics, and the list goes on…) please let me know!

That’s it for today. See you tomorrow!
