Daily Buzz | Get ready for Parks & Recreation Registration Day

Good Morning, and Happy Friday!

The Recreation Department’s Fall Brochure has been published, and Registration Day is on Tuesday, August 29, at 6:00 PM. We have a nationally recognized Recreation Department, which has served as a model for others around the country. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend checking out the offerings for Burlington residents of all ages. Here is just a tiny selection of the offerings:

  • Karate, music, soccer and more for youngsters under age 5
  • Youth skating, boxing, French lessons, bullying awareness, field hockey, and cooking
  • Coding, art & design, and Dungeons & Dragons for kids
  • Disc golf, boating, sewing, and archery for many ages
  • Adaptive gymnastics, therapeutic horseback riding, and sensory-friendly trick-or-treating
  • Badminton, pickleball, pottery, and pages of educational and fitness classes for adults
  • Dance, games, and bowling for seniors

Now is the time to register your family in the system if you haven’t already; this will ensure a streamlined registration day and increase the likelihood of getting the activities you want.

Note that if you are registering a child under 5 for the first time, you must provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate. Also, if you have a student entering kindergarten, be sure to call the recreation department to have them add in the grade level. Some programs are by grade, and some are by age, and if your kiddo doesn’t have a grade in the system, you won’t be able to register them for a grade-restricted class. You only have to do this once, and you’ll want to do it before Registration Day so you don’t run into problems when you register!

Sports and Activities

The Girls’ JV Soccer scrimmage is canceled for today, but I believe Varsity is still on (indoors)! They’ll be playing in Tewksbury. Boys played Marblehead yesterday, ending in a 2-2 draw.

Field hockey also ended in a draw, with the girls finishing 1-1 against Beverly.

There’s a football scrimmage tomorrow at 3; we host Revere at BHS.

Friday Funny

Playing my nerd card today, and then collecting it for future use.

I’ll see you on Sunday. Have a great weekend!
