Daily Buzz | Do You Want to See a Walking and Biking Path in a Busy Area of Town?
And, Candidate Interviews are live on the podcast
Good Morning, Burlington!
It looks like the worst of the storm happened for us yesterday afternoon, and school is back in session! School Committee last night, however, was canceled and so there’s no recap of that meeting. There are, however, School Committee candidate interviews available to all now! Listen here: Jeremy Brooks | Carl Foss | Katherine Bond
Today, I wanted to share with you some opportunities to participate and provide support in our community.
First, there has been a lot of talk in Burlington in the last several months about bike and pedestrian accessibility. A lot of this conversation was kicked up after the state unveiled its plan to repave and restripe the section of 3A (Cambridge Street) between Cook St. in Billerica and Burlington High School. Plans to install dedicated bike lanes along parts of this stretch were met with excitement from some and derision from others, though the part of road where bike lanes are planned is pretty short.
That project is still slated to begin this spring, but Route 3A isn’t the only place where added bike and pedestrian accessibility would benefit town residents. A group of Northeastern students is examining the feasibility of two different options to add some multi-use infrastructure in town, near Vine Brook and Middlesex Turnpike, and they’re seeking community input. Do you wish there were more active recreation opportunities in Burlington? Fill out this survey to share your thoughts!
Here are some other opportunities to get involved and give back in the coming week or so:
- Project 351 clothing drive to benefit Cradles 2 Crayons. Bring your new or like-new clothing (socks a d undergarments must be new) to the high school between March 20 and 24. Email Maddie Spreadbury for more info.
