Daily Buzz | Cambridge Street Repaving Forum Tonight
Plus, cornhole, a family concert and more
Morning!
Yesterday was a day. And today’s going to be another one. So, I’m only popping by to remind you about tonight’s community forum on the proposed repaving project on Cambridge Street/Route 3A.
The state owns this road, and they proposed a project to resurface and restripe the portion between Pinehurst Ave. in Billerica and the high school in Burlington. They also planned to make improvements such as adding bike lanes in some portions, clarifying where there are two lanes versus one (while keeping the current two-lane stretches at two lanes), and reconstructing some curbs and ramps.
There was public pushback, and a lot of it was regarding the fact that the traffic volume used in the proposal was based on numbers taken in part during the pandemic. The state committed to conduct another traffic study, and they did, shortly after that November meeting.
This project was slated to begin in the spring of this year and is now planned for this winter, according to the MassDOT website (see below). Tonight’s forum will summarize the project and allow for some comments from attendees.
