Daily Buzz | Bring Clothing Donations to Girls' Soccer Senior Night

Good Morning, Burlington!

When I was visiting my family in Missouri a few weeks ago, one of my favorite things to do was sit on the deck and watch the bird feeders. Not exactly rural and not exactly urban, the Ozarks remind me a little of Burlington with pockets of nature all around. There must have been ten different types of birds out there of all different colors, patterns, and sizes.

Massachusetts has some different birds than Missouri, but the principles of bird feeding are the same, and you can learn all about them at this Wednesday’s event, sponsored by the Burlington Garden Club. From co-President, Karin Oakes:

The event will take place in the Murray-Kelly room at 61 Center Street at 7:00 PM on Wednesday. Hope you can make it!

Today in Burlington

Meetings and Events

Early voting continues today, but the big event on the agenda is this evening’s meeting of the Select Board, during which Mass Highway will present their plan for the repaving and restriping of Route 3A/Cambridge Street. If you’re curious about the state’s vision for the corridor, I encourage you to listen in. As a reminder, input and questions will be welcomed at the 11/17 public forum. They’ll also be discussion trash collection, a conversation postponed from last month.

Sports and Activities

Busy day for sports today, with field hockey, volleyball, and boys’ and girls’ soccer.

Girls’ Soccer is having Senior Night tonight, and they’re accepting donations of NEW warm fuzzy socks, blankets, etc. for the Winchester Cancer Center and toiletries & gently used winter weather gear for the Cambridge Street Closet.

Score Update

Varsity football fell to Melrose on Friday night, 34-28.

Today’s Schedule

  • Volleyball kicks off the last week of the regular season at home today against Melrose. JVB/A play at 4:15 and Varsity at 5:30.
  • Field hockey plays at home versus Wilmington; Varsity plays at 4:00 and JV at 5:30.
  • Boys’ Soccer is in Wakefield today, with JV playing at 4:15 and Varsity at 6:15.

That’s it for me for today. Hope you have a lovely day!
