And, CarFit program for qualified seniors tomorrow

Daily Buzz | Beer Garden Breaks Records on Final Night

Good Morning, Neighbor!

Lahey Hospital tomorrow will be hosting a CarFit program for qualified seniors. This interactive program helps older drivers to ensure the safest “fit” for their vehicles. See below for more information.

The Friends of the Library Raffle Rouser drawing will be held this afternoon—be sure to get your ticket now! You could be in the running to win anything from a gift card to a local restaurant to a stay at Foxwoods! Proceeds support programming for children and adults; stop by the library for more information.

Beer Garden Breaks Records on Final Night

Last night’s Beer Garden brought to a close the most well-attended season yet for the town’s Economic Development Department. Each Thursday night’s gathering broke records set the week before, and the energy in the space from business owners, adults, and even children was very positive. Last night’s event brought in over 700 Burlington residents and neighbors. The beer line at one point stretched from the back to the front of the venue, and Mighty Squirrel’s selection was so popular it ran out! Thanks to the Economic Development Department and the other town and non-town agencies that came together to make this event bigger and better than ever.

Thanks also, and welcome, to all of you who stopped by the Buzz table and signed up to join this little community we have here. And to those of you who made it a point to let me know how much you appreciate receiving this bite-sized daily news in your inbox each morning—I can’t tell you how much that meant to me. I started this news business in February of 2022, and it’s people like you who keep me going.

If you’re new here, take a moment to read a little more about who I am and why I started the Buzz. The tl;dr is that most everything the Buzz publishes is absolutely free, in support of the Buzz’s mission to make news and civic issues available (and relatable!) to everybody. In exchange, there are a few things I ask of you:

  • Use what you learn to get involved in your community—whether it’s volunteering or voting (PLEASE VOTE) or finding the perfect library event to take your kids too. It’s so important for us to know each other and be able to talk productively with one another.
  • If you love the Buzz, share it with everyone you know in Burlington.
  • If you really love the Buzz, sign up for a paid Hive membership. Until our Partnership/Sponsorship program is up and running, the only revenue the Buzz generate is from readers. I’m working on this project nearly full-time, and every bit of financial support and appreciation helps.
  • If you love the Buzz and are a business owner (or know one!) who would like to partner as a sponsor of this accessible, relatable local news and community connection, please reach out to me at hello@burlington.buzz so we can chat about how we can help each other.

On a final note, you might know the Buzz is a finalist for an award from LION (Local Independent Online News) Publishers. The awards ceremony is coming up on Tuesday, and I’ll be in North Carolina crossing my fingers I can bring home the Community Engagement trophy. I don’t anticipate a disruption to service, but I wanted to let you know just in case. Learn about the finalists for this and the other awards, and check out LION’s X account on Tuesday evening to see if your favorite local news publication can add this new feather to its cap.
