Child Abuse Prevention Month Activities
Child Abuse Prevention Month is this April, and several events will help caregivers learn more and keep kids safe
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and local non-profit, The Mama Bear Effect, will provide many opportunities for community members to help support those who care for the youngest in our community. During the entire month, when you go to True North for your hot cuppa in the morning, the sleeve will be sponsored by The Mama Bear Effect.
On April 2, they'll be hosting a special Rock the Talk training for parents at the library. The session will educate parents about the different kinds of abuse and abusers, how to recognize signs of abuse, and how to empower children to set boundaries and report problematic behavior. Space is limited; don't forget to sign up for this free event.
A Champions for Children Luncheon, featuring keynote speaker James Derosiers, will be held on April 11 at Cafe Escadrille and will be another way to support the child abuse prevention in our community. Get your tickets here. And, finally, The Bagel Bar will host Carbs for a Cause on April 30, with proceeds benefitting The Mama Bear Effect.
