As the caps and gowns for Burlington's latest class of graduates are folded away, another generation of grads is gearing up to get back together. The Burlington Class of 1969 reunion is approaching, and the organizers are looking to spread the word.

Forty-nine years after Carol Benson Turnquist graduated from Burlington High School, she started asking around to high school classmates for information about the 50th reunion celebration. What she found though, is that a reunion hadn't yet been planned. "Nobody want[ed] to run it," she said, but Turnquist wasn't about to let the half-century mark pass by without acknowledgement. She assembled a reunion committee and, together, they put the wheels in motion.

Working from an old contact list, the committee contacted all the classmates they could find, and their hard work paid off. Held in September 2019, the Burlington Class of 1969 50th reunion is said to be the biggest in Burlington history. About 150 attendees joined together at Grand View Farm for an evening of caching up.

Since 2019, the technological revolution hasn't slowed, and many of the phone numbers on that old contact list are now out of service as attendees rely increasingly on their cell phones. It's been hard to contact folks, says Turnquist. The planning committee website hopes to combat that problem, allowing classmates to register their contact information onto the side. Users can also upload photos and begin the process of reconnecting ahead of this September's 55th reunion.

The reunion itself will take place on September 6 from 5:30-10:00 PM at the Woburn Country Club, and there will be a Meet & Greet the night before from 6:oo-9:00 and a brunch the morning after at 10:00 at the Marriott, where the group has reserved a block of rooms.
