Burlington Buzz Recognized as Award Finalist

The 2024 News Sustainability Award finalists were announced yesterday, and we're thrilled to announce Burlington Buzz made the short list for the second year in a row!

Hosted by leading industry group LION Publishers and judged by a panel of independent experts from all around the news world, the Sustainability Awards seek to celebrate and reward the hard work of connecting people with the news that matters to them. There are eight award categories, and entries are grouped by revenue tier.

Burlington Buzz's entry for Product of the Year was selected as a finalist for the "Small & Micro" revenue tier, which represents businesses with under $500,000 in revenue. The entry outlines the process and vision for the Buzz Seasonal Guides as a way to connect readers with the community and support the Buzz's financial sustainability. We produced our first Guide in the Winter of 2023, and currently we're promoting the Spring & Summer Guide for 2024. These magazine-style guides are full of tips, recommendations, and information for community members of all ages. Moving forward, we plan to produce a quarterly guide as a habitual community resource.

There were over 200 entries across award categories this year, and 56 entries from 40 organizations were selected as finalists. The competition is stiff, and we are truly simply honored to be able to sit in the company of such amazing and impactful news publications. Thanks to our community for the support you've given, and continue to provide, as we strive to give you the best and most relatable and relevant news experience possible.

Winners will be announced on September 5, live and in person at the News Sustainability Summit in Chicago, IL. Last year, Burlington Buzz received its first-ever LION Award, in the category of Community Engagement.
