Plus, a failed pilot of sports scheduling
Good Morning!
This weekend, as I was going through all the social media accounts, different email inboxes, and so on, I thought it would be a good idea to communicate with you directly about how to contact me. Currently I have a lot to still sift through from the end of the summer, but I’m making headway and the fact that I have dedicated work time each day helps a lot. Something else that helps a lot is if I don’t have to look in 5 different inboxes (no joke!) for communications. So please read and follow these guidelines if you need to contact me.
Any stories and replies I owe you will be on their way sometime this week, I hope, but in the meantime if I’ve promised you a story or if you’re awaiting a reply on an email or DM, please feel free to nudge me via the appropriate medium as laid out in this brand-new post:
There is also a new code of conduct laid out in the above article. Nothing huge, just common sense but also good to codify.
Today in Burlington
Just a few items on the agenda tonight, and Select Board looks like it’ll go long.
- 6:00 PM - Burlington Youth and Family Services meets. The agenda doesn’t have too much detail, but since I haven’t talked much about them I thought I’d tell you that BYFS is the town agency that connects folks in need with the services that can help them. You can reach them by calling 781-270-1961. (Join online)
- 6:00 PM - Select Board hears about the Community Preservation Act, the Vine Brook Watershed Report, and updated from the Economic Development Office and the Housing Partnership. They will discuss some policy updates for use of the Town Common and the banner at the corner of Bedford and Cambridge Street, and several other items. (Join online)
- 7:30 PM - Information Systems Security Advisory Committee (ISSAC) will continue discussing the Cybersecurity Policy implementation and the Software Technology Assessment by the schools. Which reminds me I need to catch up on those meetings and see what that Software Assessment is all about. (Join online)
Burlington Sports Today
I told myself I was going to start putting the sports calendar for the day in the Buzz today, and then I went and sent it without the sports section - and indeed, without a title? IDK, blame Monday. Anyway, here are the sports events for today.
- 3:45 - Varsity Boys’ Golf @ Stoneham (Loss, 37-35)
- 4:00, 4:15, and 5:00 - JV (Win, 2-0), Freshman (Win, 3-0), and Varsity Girls’ (Win, 3-2) Volleyball at home against Reading
- 4:15 - JV Boys’ Soccer @ Reading (Loss, 2-1)
- 4:15 - JV Girls’ (Tie, 0-0) and Varsity (Tie, 0-0) Girls’ Soccer home against Reading
- 6:00 - Varsity Boys’ Soccer @ Reading (Loss, 3-0)
That’s all I have for today. Have a great one, friends!
