The theme for this year's National Senior Center Month is Powering Connection, and Burlington's Council on Aging will be celebrating by hosting two events this September to bring the community in and showcase the work they do.

First, on Wednesday, September 4, from 5:00-7:00 PM, the Council on Aging will open their doors for an open house to kick off senior center month. The community will be invited in to tour the facilities, meet the staff, and see the activities and services offered by the senior center and the benefits of joining. Art created by Burlington seniors will be on display, and refreshments will be served. This event is for anyone in the community, whether you're a member, a potential member, or someone who would like to feel connected and aware of the services provided by this organization.

Then, on September 25, from 3:00-5:00 PM, they'll be holding a Safety and Wellness fair, geared toward seniors and care partners. At this event you'll connect with safety tips, wellness advice and health screenings. Interact with experts in the field and learn about available services to support seniors in the community. The goal of this fair is to ensure seniors and their care partners have all the knowledge and tools they need to stay healthy and secure.

"Senior Center Month is a time dedicated to celebrating and recognizing the vital role that senior centers play in enhancing the lives of older adults," said Director Marge Yetman via a press release. "The theme [Powering Connection] encourages both seniors and their communities to recognize and harness the power of these connections, demonstrating how collaboration and support can lead to a more vibrant and inclusive environment for everyone."

Mark your calendars! Senior Center Staff and members look forward to welcoming you on September 4 and 25. The Burlington Council on Aging and Senior Center are located at 61 Center St, Burlington, MA in the front of the building.  For more information call the main office at 781-270-1950.
