Second Annual "I Voted" Sticker Contest is On
The Town of Burlington will hold its second annual "I Voted" Sticker contest; winning designs will be distributed at April's election.
The Burlington Town Clerk's Office is holding its second annual contest for students of Burlington elementary schools to design the next "I Voted" sticker to be given out at the local election in April.
The contest last year was very popular, garnering over 160 entries, which were narrowed down to a handful of designs that were further voted on by the public at the town's 225th anniversary celebration on February. Three finalists were chosen to be printed and distributed at Election Day, as reported by BCAT.
This year's contest, like last year's, is open to any K-5 Burlington student. Kids must simply hand in their design to the Town Clerk’s office at Town Hall (29 Center Street) no later than Monday, January 6.
Here are the rules of the contest from Town Clerk, Amy Warfield:
Designs must be hand-drawn and include the phrase “I Voted”. Designs will be judged on their creativity and Burlington focus. Designs may not favor a political party or candidate. The Town Clerk’s office will bring five designs to Burlington’s upcoming Civic Expo on January 15th. Expo attendees will be asked to vote for their favorite design. One design will be selected at the event and distributed to voters participating in the Annual Town Election on April 5th, 2025.
This contest is just one way the Town Clerk's office works to promote civic engagement and awareness among Burlington's youth. They also run a Student Vote at the town election each April.
Parents, be sure to ask your kids about the contest and encourage them to enter!
