Just a year after the Burlington Bed Bath & Beyond store closed the doors at 3 Abbott Park for the last time, another business is excited to open them again.

Bob's Discount Furniture has made quick work of renovating the space and preparing it for the store's grand opening next week. According to Regional Store Manager, Bill Foppiano, "It was a complete interior renovation," to create the layout that works best for Bob's customers.  But with 174 stores nationwide and 20 new ones opening each year, the company has perfected the opening process.

The new store takes the place of the Woburn location, which recently closed in preparation for the move. The entire staff was transferred to the Burlington store, which has more space to display the variety of offerings. The company had been thinking about relocating for a while and chose Burlington for the move because of its robust retail ecosystem.

Displays in the new store will showcase the latest in furniture designs, including those with electronic enhancements like phone chargers and lights. "Customers like to have fun with their furniture," said Foppiano, and new designs capitalize on that trend. Bob's also carries modular and multifunctional furniture, like seats with hidden storage and reconfigurable couches.

The location is notorious for its difficult parking lot, but Foppiano isn't worried. Bob's is a "large purchases" kind of store, which means the customer volume isn't as high as with the Burlington Bed Bath and Beyond. There are also many spots behind the building, a fact which many customers aren't aware of. Deliveries aren't anticipated to affect traffic in the area, and Foppiano doesn't foresee any issues with customer pickups congesting the area, either, as most customers opt for delivery.

With its opening, Bob's will be supporting Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica and the Mission of Deeds in Reading with $2,500 donations to each organization; this is a part of the $100,000 each year that the company donates to community organizations. In addition, the company matches the donations that come into their stores' cafes, which provide complimentary ice cream, candy, coffee, and other goodies. Currently, those funds go to Family Promise.

The ribbon cutting will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, May 24. "We're excited," said Foppiano. "The store is beautiful inside and out, and we're looking forward to opening."

A long weekend of family fun is planned for the Bob's Grand Opening. Spend some time at Bob's Friday through Monday enjoying some entertainment like balloon art and face painting—then, of course, take a peek inside.
